Guideline Process
ACP guidelines are produced through a team effort involving the Clinical Programs staff, the steering committee known as the Clinical Efficacy Assessment Subcommittee (CEAS), and expert scientific collaborators.
CEAP
In 1981, the Clinical Efficacy Assessment Project, or CEAP, began as a three-year grant.
Subcommittee
The mission of the Clinical Efficacy Assessment Subcommittee is to oversee the development of guidelines that will improve the practice of medicine.
Algorithms
Algorithms are schematic models of the clinical decision pathway described in a guideline. The decision points are represented with yes/no nodes, and the clinical characteristics, test characteristics, or treatment options are also simplified into their basic components.
